Sugar from Savannah

These are the moments every mother lives for… the glimpses of pure, unadulterated love that make all the laundry, tantrums, uneaten dinners, and invasions of privacy so very, very worth it. And lucky me, I was gifted with three unsolicited gems, all in the same week.

From Savannah (just before bed, with a sleepy smile and eyes welling with tears): “Mom? I don’t know why, but when I was looking at you earlier tonight, and I was thinking about how special you are… well, I don’t know why, but I felt like I was about to start crying from happiness at all of my love.”

From Abby: “Mommy, when I get big, I want to marry you.”

From Claire: “Mub moo.”

It’s true that I am stressed, imperfect, and impatient. But I am also blessed and honored to share my life with these three precious little girls (and their wonderful daddy) — who, in each of their own special ways, have given me meaning, purpose, richness of heart, and the most unconditional, truest love I’ve ever known.
