- Claire, found frolicking naked in Mommy & Daddy’s bedroom after having stripped out of her clothes and diaper. In the two minutes she’d been in there alone, she’d managed to pee on the floor and empty an entire bottle of shampoo all over the bathroom carpet. She had also rooted through John’s nightstand drawer, come across an unmentionable item (let’s just say it’s used by married couples to prevent the creation of more little Claires), and for whatever reason was holding it to her ear like a phone, saying “Hello?” over and over.
- The family at Dennison Park, having a contest to see who could jump the highest off a bench (runner-up shown above).
- Abby: “Mommy, I can’t swallow because my breath hurts.” (Actually makes a little sense, now that I think about it.)
- Mommy to Savannah (at nail salon): “Honey, can you please stop wriggling? Look at that little girl over there. Why can’t you sit still like her?”
Savannah: “Because, Mom, I’ve got special problems.” - Claire, to a moose head mounted on the wall of Texas Roadhouse: “Hiiiiii, Bodie!” (Bodie is our cat).
- Abby, doing her famous “monster face” (eyes wide as dinner plates, mouth in a perfect “O”, head vibrating side to side like a tuning fork).
- Conversation between Savannah & Abby:
Savannah: “Why do you suck your thumb?”
Abby: “Because I like it.”
Savannah: “Well, I guess it’s better than puking all over yourself.” - Claire, singing the theme from Annie: “Tomawwo! Tomawwo! I wub woo, tomawwo! Iss only a daaaaay aaaaawaaaaaay!” Hearts melted all over the place. And for her encore, KC & the Sunshine Band’s “Shake Your Booty”.
- Savannah, during a stroller-free Mommy-and-me shopping trip when we finally got to ride on the escalator: “You know, I really do love Claire and Abby, but everything’s so much easier without them.”
